English Version Below
You are crying.
Why are you sitting legs crossed in the middle of the night?
Are you not able to sleep? Is something bothering you?
And why do you cry? What do you see through your closed lids? What do you hear as you chant the name of Amitabha?
Do you not see the great compassion of Amida Buddha? Do you not see the sufferings of sentient beings?
The sentient world, full of feelings and emotions, turning into greeds and lusts, is like a boiling pot. Mankind is suffering in this huge pot, unable to escape from the ever changing world.
Listen to the silence of the night, except for the whistling fan and the ticking clock. Beyond the whistles and the ticking, do you hear the silence? Silence in itself can be heard. Can you hear the peace? Or the crying of all humans?
Is that the reason why you are crying? No, you are not crying. You are weeping silently.
Memories flashes by right in front of you. Your closed lids form the screens. They are flashing all that you have been through, and all that you have seen, observed, learned and on and on.
You know that this is not real and yet so real. In the contrary, you also know that the world is so real and yet not real.
Are you confused? Have you lost your way in the journey to look for peace? Is it enlightenment that you have been searching for? Or what do you want?
No, don’t turn your head. There is no point in looking back, for whatever is over is over.
No, don’t look ahead, for it may not be the way you want it to be.
Look within, look at where you are now. The here and the now is what you have. It may be dark, it may be quiet, but isn’t peace what you are looking for? This quietness and this darkness are all that you have now.
And if you don’t cherish them, they will be gone the moment you don’t cherish them.
Your breath, your soul, are all in the present moment. So, make good use of them, feel them, hear the sound of the nature, feel the love of nature, be thankful, be compassionate and be mindful.
But you have incomplete tasks in this world. You have many debts on your shoulder. All you can do is to repent on your sins, and then shower your love on your loved ones, your close friends, your confidante, and spread to all sentient beings in time to come.
The world is what it is. You can’t change it, but you can change yourself. The moment you change yourself, you can influence others with the happiness that you have found.
Now, open your eyes, and speak out what’s in your mind…
