The challenge that most of us will face is we don’t seem to be able to find that time to do this GEMBA within ourselves! Or we don’t even dare to face the reality that all our pains and sufferings are caused by us, within us! And so, I dare you to try this out, if you are serious enough, you will find your answers.
In 2017, I led a few colleagues to plan for a game for our I Love IT week and we came out with this Code Breakers, something like a scavenger hunt. It was quite a tough assignment but we did it. After the event, I compiled the video and wrote an article in Chinese. Now I'm recompiling it with English version.
Being attached is so IN us, it’s like our second nature that without it, we seem to lose our identify. Or perhaps, we are so fearful of letting go that it will make us feel purposeless being in this life? We seem to cling on to people, materials stuffs, names, fame, responsibilities so much so that we forget about our own true self, even when others are not appreciative of us!
Many a times, we feel sad, upset, angry and annoyed over some people, not knowing that those who truly care and love us are waiting for us to care and love them back, and yet we put our focus on those people who upset us.
很多时候，我们因为一些人而感到悲伤，或是难过，或是愤怒，或是厌弃，殊不知真正关心我们的人正等着我们去关心，我们却把心思放在让我们不愉快的人。
I hope by doing this dangerous act, I’m able to rebuild my confidence as a person. I want to reinforce the fact that when we believe we can, we will be able to overcome our fears of failures and falling. And I also hope that by making this video, I can also encourage others to stand up tall and face their challenges. Nothing is too difficult for us as long as we are willing to try. At most, we fall and then we will learn how to stand up again. At my age of 48 and not exercising for more than 20 years, I am proud that I can still do the back flip, though they weren’t perfect.
This is the first outdoor public video that I have recorded using the wireless microphone. It was to test the microphone out and also to experiment how to make a video with my prose. It is also the first time I'm sharing my thoughts through a video. It is something new to me and I'm still learning.
